Storage Tank Management Experience

TPEC's staff have the skills and experience to assess your underground and aboveground storage tank problems. Representative projects completed by TPEC's staff are summarized below:

Mort Service Station, Philadelphia, PA

  • Provided oversight, confirmatory soil sampling and certification report for removal of 3 hydraulic lifts and a 275-gallon aboveground storage tank at an automobile service station.


SJCC/GSC Superfund Site - AST

  • Provided design of a 5,000-gallon sulfuric acid and a 5,000-gallon sodium hydroxide aboveground storage tanks. Each tank is furnished with a concrete secondary containment, a transfer pump, a recirculation pump, and an overhead canopy to deflect rainwater.


McKesson Chemical, Inc., New Jersey - AST Closure

  • Managed closure of 78 aboveground storage tanks. The scope of work included: mobilization/demobilization; removal of insulation materials, including asbestos-containing materials; removal and disposal of residual tank materials; tank closures; dismantling, transportation, and reclamation of tanks and platforms; building demolition; and consolidation, characterization, and disposal of scrap materials.

  • Conducted a geophysical survey, a limited subsurface investigation, and removal of a 500-gallon fuel oil tank at a Citizen Bank facility at 6249-91 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA.

  • Managed the removal of 1,175 gallons of residual product from a 2,000-gallon heating oil UST at 7033-51 Frankford Avenue, inspected the tank for evidence of holes or product leakage, and oversaw its closure./p>

  • Conducted a ground penetrating radar survey to investigate suspected UST area at 10th Street and Hamilton Street, Philadelphia, PA.

  • Conducted a geophysical survey and limited subsurface investigation to locate suspected petroleum USTs at 1600 Washington Avenue, Philadelphia, PA.


Namco Pool and Patio, PA - UST Removal and Site Investigation

  • Conducted investigation on a leaking 2,000-gallon heating oil tank site, oversaw tank removal and soil excavation, and prepared a closure report for review by the PADEP.


Chrysler Motors Corporation Assembly Plant, Newark, Delaware - UST Replacement

  • Provided design and construction supervision services for replacement of an existing tank farm for storage of motor oil, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, ethylene glycol (anti-freeze), and gasoline. The new tank system consisted of a state-of-the-art Tank Inventory Management System designed for leak detection, inventory monitoring, and automated recording.


Atlantic County Utility Authority, Atlantic County, New Jersey - AST Design

  • Provided design services for two 50,000 gallon aboveground storage tanks, 10 transfer stations, a collection header, and a central pump station for a landfill leachate treatment system.


New York State Department of Transportation - UST Investigation

  • Conducted a soil gas survey to locate potential leaking underground storage tank sites on the New York Route 22 right-of-way land acquisition investigation.


C&C Poultry, Philadelphia, PA

  • Provided oversight for removal of a 275-gallon fuel oil tank in the basement of a warehouse building.


Eastern Star Foods, Philadelphia, PA

  • Conducted a magnetic survey to identify the location of a 2,500-gallon vinegar tank and a 3,000-gallon heating oil tank.


Mil-Lee's Diner, Philadelphia, PA

  • Provided oversight for the removal of a 275-gallon heating oil tank.


First Penn Bank, Philadelphia, PA

  • Investigate the existence of a 550-gallon underground heating oil tank at a 1-story warehouse building at 277-89 S. 62nd Street, Philadelphia, PA

  • Conducted a limited subsurface investigation on a suspected UST site at Pacific Ocean Plaza in Philadelphia, PA

  • Investigate the existence of a 550-gallon underground heating oil tank and two 1,000-gallon gasoline tanks at a former ARCO service station at 627-31 Reed Street, Philadelphia, PA

  • Removal of a 2,000-gallon fuel oil UST and a 2,000-gallon UST at 1825 E. Atlantic Street, Philadelphia, PA

  • Investigated a suspected UST site at a former auto service station at 2400 Washington Avenue in Philadelphia, PA

  • Conducted an AST removal from the basement of a property at 1111-21 S. 11th Street in Philadelphia, PA

  • Provided oversight for the removal of a 275-gallon heating oil tank at a 2-story apartment building at 1500 S. Broad Street in Philadelphia, PA.


Northgate Shopping Center, St. Joseph, MO

  • Conducted a limited subsurface investigation on petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs) impacted soil and groundwater at a former Sears auto service station.

H&N Chemical, NJ - AST Design

  • Prepared P&IDs and designed ventilation system, lighting and access walkways for the exterior process tanks in the tank farm.


Union Station Complex, MO - UST Removal and AST Installation

  • Oversaw design of a 1,000-gallon UST and installation of a 500-gallon AST for No. 2 diesel fuel service. The new tank is furnished with state-of-the-art equipment for leak detection, overfill protection and spill prevention as required by the USEPA.


Product Research and Chemical Corporation, Gloucester City, New Jersey - UST Design

  • Provided design and construction supervision for compartmentalized underground solvent storage tanks for MEK, toluene, and methanol. Provided design and construction supervision for transfer pumps and pipelines for solvent delivery and a vapor recovery system in the processing and production areas.


Waste Management Inc., Lancaster, California - UST Removal/Replacement

  • Performed design and permit application services for installation of underground diesel fuel tanks and removal of waste oil tanks.


Philadelphia Water Department, Northeast Water Pollution Control Plant - UST Replacement

  • Provided investigation and design services for the replacement of an underground fuel oil storage tank as part of the Scum Disposal Facilities.


Confidential Client, Fort Washington, Pennsylvania - UST Removal and Remediation

  • Managed removal and remediation of a 10,000-gallon gasoline UST for a manufacturer of photocopiers. Obtained a clean closure for the site.


Confidential Client, Macungie, Pennsylvania - UST Removal and Remediation

  • Managed removal and remediation of a 10,000-gallon diesel UST at truck transport facility. Obtained a clean closure for the site.


Confidential Client, Bucks County, Pennsylvania - UST Removal and Remediation

  • Managed removal of a 1,000-gallon heating oil UST at a proposed park site. Limited remediation was performed and no further action was required.


Confidential Client, New Brunswick, New Jersey - UST Removal and Remediation

  • Managed removal of four 10,000-gallon USTs containing petroleum products at a truck rental facility. Managed installation of a soil and groundwater remediation system to address petroleum-related contamination.


Gordon Bartels Company, Rockford, Illinois - Product Handling System

  • Designed a product pumping system to handle 15 different kinds of Type I and Type II flammable liquids for an industrial paint manufacturer. Double-wall piping, secondary containment, and leak detection systems were included as part of the design. Leak detection systems were zoned to assist in isolating leaks.


2400 Lakeview Condominium Association, Chicago, Illinois - UST Closure

  • Prepared a bid package for in-place closure of two 15,000-gallon USTs containing heating oil. Provided oversight during closure activities and coordinated activities with local regulatory agencies.


AT&T, West Chicago, Illinois - UST Removal

  • Managed removal of two 10,000-gallon USTs containing petroleum products. Performed confirmatory sampling and prepared a closure report for submittal to the regulatory agency. A clean closure was obtained for the Site.


Steven LaFlamme, Fairless Hills, PA

  • Conducted a geophysical survey and Geoprobe investigation to assess location and environmental impact of possible UST areas.

  • Conducted a geophysical survey and Geoprobe investigation to locate suspected USTs.
